Self Portrait Show

Portland, Oregon. On August 6th, 2010 The 100th Monkey Studio will host an art opening for the studio’s Self Portrait show. The event will be held from 6pm-9pm and is free and open to the public. During the evening there will be live entertainment and refreshments. This event is for all ages. The show will hang in the studio from 8/6/10 – 8/29/10.

The Self Portrait show contains works that are both literal and figurative looks... at one’s self. The artists utilize a variety of mediums and interpretations to convey their own unique and profound self-reflection. These autobiographical works expose the inner-consciousness of the artist, a therapeutic release, or perhaps just a simple insight into how they live their daily lives. Some of these works address issues they have with their identity or, opposingly, address outside perceptions of the artist’s identity. This collection of self portraits is remarkable and each piece tells a different story.

In the Self Portrait show we will be showing work by 2ndComing, Iana Amauba, Don Fox, Sarah Goodchild Robb, Sabina Zeba Haque, Katharine Jacobs, Joy Leising, Betsy LeVine, Suzan Mayer, Troy McCray, Katy Meacham, Elise Mravunac, Kaley Ortiz, Suwanee Sarakana, Beth Ann Short, Ivy Slavis, Don Somppi and William Thompson.

Striving to create connections within our community, the 100th Monkey Studio offers a creative place to visit, view art and/or locate personal resources. The studio founders believe in providing any artist willing with the tools and knowledge to use them, but also the support and freedom to express individuality and vision.
