DIY Alert is a managed calendar for craft classes, craft events, and other crafty goodness in the Portland, Oregon area (and a few choice road-trip destinations). You can subscribe to our weekly newsletter, which will give you the juicy details of the events going on for your favorite crafts.


How do I sign up for your weekly newsletter?

You must "opt-in" for our newsletter. This prevents the possibility of you getting unwanted emails from our site. To start receiving our newsletter:

  1. If you haven't already, create an account on our site, then log in.
  2. Click "My Account" from the left menu
  3. Click on "Manage my subscriptions"
  4. Check the box next to "DIY Alert newsletter"
  5. Click "Save"

You may "opt-out" by unchecking the box next to DIY Alert Newsletter.

I used to get your newsletter, and now I don't anymore. What happened?

Possibly, you need to add DIY Alert to your emailer's "approved senders" list. Or, our emails may be coming to your Junk folder, so be sure to check there, too.

If you're a Yahoo! Mail user, well. . . we could write a book about the issues we've had with Yahoo! Mail. Your best bet is to add us to your "Whitelist." Here are some handy tutorials on how to do this for Yahoo!, MSN/Hotmail, Earthlink and Gmail. :)

Or, if you can switch your account to a different email address than Yahoo!, that would likely be even better.

If we have bounced more than two newsletters to your email address, you have been removed from our system. Please feel free to re-sign up to receive our newsletters, but make sure to follow the above methods to make sure they arrive in your in-box.

How can I get my class/craft group/event into this calendar?

We enter public events, like craft fairs, book signings, and festivals into DIY Alert. For classes, workshops, and craft group meetings, we rely on you.

Entering your events into DIY Alert is very easy. Just create an account on the site, and then contact us for more details.

Does it cost anything to list my event on DIY Alert?

Nope. It's free to list your events here. Contact us if you have events you'd like to list.

Can I advertise on your website?

We offer great advertising rates, and if your business is craft-related, we’d love to have you. Please contact us for more information.

Can I register for classes through your website?

Not through us. If you see a class or event you like on DIY Alert!, you’ll want to contact the event organizer for registration.

I saw an event in your calendar and tried to go to it, but it was cancelled. Why didn’t your website notify me?

We’re sorry, but things change all the time. Each event/class is posted by the person or organization in charge of that event/class. DIY Alert staff does NOT maintain this information. When you’re attending an event you see in our calendar, we highly recommend that you contact the event organizer before you go to confirm the details -- just to be sure.
