About the instructor: Gretchin Lair is a creative advocate who founded Scarlet Star Studios in 2004 to encourage people to make stuff. She joined the Board of Trillium Artisans in 2007 to help increase the revenue and support of independent artisans in Portland.

This fun and informative hands-on class is for the newbie and will focus primarily on our goals as a blogger. Topics include: Your Goals - Business or Pleasure, Hosts & Publishers, Tailoring your content and indentity, Design and Layout, Blog-to-Blog partnering, and Widgets and what to do with them.

The student will be able to register and start their blog in class.

Starting a business is easy! Keeping it running is harder. Whether you’re struggling with your identity, finances or business planning, this workshop will help you identify the next step you need to take to make yourself legal, stable and profitable in Oregon. In addition, learn about the other people and organizations who are on your side, including inspiration and support from other DIY business owners.

Ayleen Crotty is a communications and marketing graphic designer for supported bike events. She is the director of the bike film festival Filmed by Bike, a host on the KBOO Bike Show and the editor of ORbike.com. Ayleen got her start in communications with a one-page fact sheet (before she knew it was a zine) in 1991.

This is a juried, annual event that even offers an eco-friendly tour bus service. Open to anyone interested in learning how to build an attractive portfolio website using free services that already exist on the web. The class will explore basic web concepts such as HTML, CSS, and blogging, as well as provide tips on how to get people interested in visiting your new web home.

A group of about 20 artists including myself (Linda Womack) will be showing work at Milepost 5, the new creative community in SE Portland. I'll be painting most of the weekend so if you haven't seen anyone paint with wax before please come by for a quick demonstration.
