Combining the elegance of screenprinting with the ease of photocopying, the Print Gocco quickly & neatly converts your artwork into professional-looking prints on paper or fabric. It's magic! Gocco is one of the easiest, cleanest, most non-toxic printmaking options around. Appropriate for ages 12 and up. And if you have yet to acquaint yourself with the IPRC, you're really missing out!
About the instructor: Gretchin Lair is a creative advocate who founded Scarlet Star Studios in 2004 to encourage people to make stuff. She joined the Board of Trillium Artisans in 2007 to help increase the revenue and support of independent artisans in Portland.
Have you ever wanted to create that “antiqued” jewelry look? If so, then this is the class for you! Students will make a sterling silver necklace with a charm and learn how to give it that antiqued-look (also called oxidizing) by using the sulfur in eggs. This is a natural way to oxidize your jewelry without chemicals. Traditional methods of oxidizing jewelry use strong smelling substances or harsh chemicals to darken the metal, but this is a fun and natural alternative!

With this introductory class, you'll learn to navigate the basic tools of beading and the bare bones of wire manipulation and using findings, chain, and nylon-coated beading wire to create your own beaded jewelry. We'll also talk about how to select beads and where to find them.
Students will have the use of basic tools during class, and will also have access to beads and base metal/surgical steel findings and a selection of beads - nothing to buy before class! Students are welcome to bring their won beads to work with. Students will get handouts and hands-on instruction, and will have time to make three projects in class - some students choose to do a necklace, bracelet, and earrings, though options are available for students who want to focus on earring or necklace construction.
