There is nothing like a pair of hand-made socks. But wait - you don't knit!!!! Crocheters want to make socks too! Why should we be left out of the fun?
This class will be taught in two parts--the first explaining the basic technique and components of sock-making. We'll start at the cuff of the sock and together we'll start to crochet a decorative design in a continuous round. Then you'll have two weeks to crochet at your own pace until you make it to the heel. In the second class you'll learn how to turn the heel - a little differently than in knitting - and in less time than your knitty friends, you'll also be holding something that looks like a sock! Crocheters like warm feet too!
Come and join this open crafting group that meets every Tuesday night. Bring your current project, start a new one, or make something for the coral reef. You're welcome to bring something to share in the theme, which for July and August will be Summer joy!
There is nothing like a pair of hand-knitted socks. Whether it's a thin, sturdy pair to wear during the day, knee socks that show off a deliciously complex pattern, or a luxurious cozy pair for around the house, there is perhaps no moment that feels more industrious in a knitter's life than when he or she puts on their first pair of knitted socks.
This class will be taught in two parts--the first explaining the basic technique and components of sock-making. We will cast on and get started together, and then you'll have two weeks to knit at your own pace until you make it to the heel. In the second class you'll learn how to turn the heel, and suddenly you'll be holding something that looks like a sock! This first class will feature cuff-down socks; keep an eye out for toe-up socks later on in the summer.
