Handmade Holidays: Get the word out about your awesome product!
Site Admin
DIY Alert believes in buying handmade for the holidays. And so do our subscribers.
So our weekly email newsletter is a good place to promote your handmade products. And you can be in it for only $30.00.
Why so cheap? What's the catch?
There's no catch. We know that small businesses don't always have the cash to spend on advertising with the mainstream press outlets in town. So we wanted to create a more affordable alternative.
What do I get for $30.00?
You will appear in one of our weekly email newsletters, which go out every Wednesday throughout the holiday season. And your appearance will look a bit like this:

So it's more personal and more detailed than an ad. It's a fun way to present your product, and share something interesting about you and your business. We'll write the copy, and you'll have approval. You'll supply an image. And we'll link to your online store, so people can buy your work.
What's more, each newsletter will contain no more than five placements -- so yours won't get lost in too much information!
Who does this reach?
Our subscribership is over 1200 local people, and growing every day. And they're all folks who love handmade things, love our newsletters, and are looking for great holiday gifts. For thirty bucks, that's a large and highly-targeted audience.

When does my placement run?
You can choose which week your placement appears in the Alert. (That's first-come, first-served, by the way, so be sure and act now so you get the week you want!) We run every Wednesday throughout the season.
Sorry, these dates have been filled:
November 19
November 26
December 3
December 10
These dates are still available:
November 5 and 12
December 17 and 24

How to I get started?
Just contact us, and we'll get you all set up.

Site AdminHow to Whitelist DIY Alert on your Yahoo! Mail
Site AdminA note to Yahoo! Mail users:
If you sign up for the DIY Alert newsletter on your Yahoo! account, you may not be able to receive our emails until you add us to your "whitelist."
What the heck is a whitelist?
It's your list of approved email senders. If you put DIY Alert on your whitelist, then our emails to you will not get blocked by Yahoo's spam filters.
How to I do this?
It's pretty easy. First, log into your Yahoo! Mail account. Then look for the Options link. It should be in the upper right corner, as you see in this picture:

Next, click on Filters.

Now, click Add.

There are three things to do on the next screen, as you see below.
1. In the line we've highlighted, where it says, "From header..." type in our email address: sisterdiane@diyalert.com.
2. From the pull-down menu below that, where it says "Move message to..." select Inbox.
3. At the bottom of the page, click Add Filter

When you see this summary page, you should be all set. Make sure your page matches this one:

Thank you for whitelisting us. If you still encounter problems getting the email newsletter after this, please contact us.

Click on that tab, and you'll generate a copy of the event. Then you can just change the date and time to the next meeting.

A Note to Yahoo! Mail Users:
We've had ongoing problems getting our newsletter to Yahoo! email addresses. So if you have access to an email address that isn't Yahoo!, we'd recommend that you use that to sign up for DIY Alert.
If you need to use a Yahoo! address, then please be sure to whitelist our email address. Even then, we unfortunately can't guarantee you'll receive our newsletters regularly.
Frequently Asked Questions:

You can subscribe to our weekly newsletter, which will give you the juicy details of the events going on for your favorite crafts.

I used to get your newsletter, and now I don't anymore. What happened?
Possibly, you need to add DIY Alert to your emailer's "approved senders" list. Or, our emails may be coming to your Junk folder, so be sure to check there, too.
If you're a Yahoo! Mail user, well. . . we could write a book about the issues we've had with Yahoo! Mail. Your best bet is to add us to your "Whitelist." Here are some handy tutorials on how to do this for Yahoo!, MSN/Hotmail, Earthlink and Gmail. :)
Or, if you can switch your account to a different email address than Yahoo!, that would likely be even better.
If we have bounced more than two newsletters to your email address, you have been removed from our system. Please feel free to re-sign up to receive our newsletters, but make sure to follow the above methods to make sure they arrive in your in-box.
If none of these suggestions resolves the problem, please feel free to contact us for assistance.
